Checking your bill
How can I check my MEPCO bill online?
Use the checker on our homepage: type your 14-digit reference number, press Check Bill, and your latest bill opens on the official PITC page with the amount, due date and units. The whole process is free and needs no account or app.
Can I check my MEPCO bill by CNIC, name or meter number?
No — the official PITC system searches only by the 14-digit reference number or the 10-digit consumer ID. If you have lost every bill, check the payment history of the bank or wallet app you used last month, where the reference number is usually saved. See the reference number guide for recovery options.
How do I download or print a copy of my bill?
Open the bill online and use the printer icon on the PITC bill page to print it or save it as a PDF. That printed copy works as a duplicate bill and is accepted by banks, post offices and wallet apps for payment.
How can I check whether my last bill was paid or not?
The easiest signs are the payment status shown with your recent bill online and the transaction record in your bank or wallet app. If a payment is missing, keep the transaction ID safe, because it is the proof MEPCO will ask for. Our bill paid or not guide lists every way to confirm.
Reference number & consumer ID
Where is the reference number printed on my bill?
Look in the Consumer Detail box near the top of any bill, where it is labelled Reference No. It is 14 digits followed by a letter such as U or R, and when you type it online you enter only the digits. The reference number guide shows the exact spot.
What is the difference between the reference number and the consumer ID?
The reference number has 14 digits and identifies your connection's billing record, while the consumer ID is a separate 10-digit customer number printed just below it. Both open the same bill online, but payment services standardly ask for the reference number. More in the consumer ID guide.
I have lost all my old bills — how do I get my number back?
Start with your banking or wallet app history, ask your sub-division office with your CNIC and address, or call MEPCO on 118 or 0800-63726. There is no online search by CNIC, so one of these offline routes is always needed for a lost number. All official numbers are on our contact page.
Paying your bill
How can I pay my MEPCO bill online?
Open your banking app or a wallet such as JazzCash or Easypaisa, choose bill payment and the electricity or 1Bill category, and enter your 14-digit reference number. Your amount and due date load automatically; pay before the due date and save the receipt. Step-by-step: pay bill online.
Can I pay a large bill in installments?
Yes, in genuine hardship MEPCO can split a bill into installments, but you must apply at your sub-division office before the due date rather than simply paying part of the bill. Interest or surcharge treatment depends on the approval, so get the plan in writing. See bill installments for how it works.
What happens if I pay after the due date?
A late payment surcharge is added, which is why the bill prints two totals: the lower amount payable within the due date and the higher amount payable after it. Paying late repeatedly can also lead to disconnection proceedings for unpaid balances. The surcharge is explained in bill charges explained.
Problems, wrong bills & complaints
My bill looks wrong — what should I check first?
Compare the current meter reading printed on the bill with the reading on your meter today, and check whether the units and slab match your usage. Note the difference, photograph the meter with the date visible, and then follow the correction route in our wrong bill guide.
How do I register a complaint with MEPCO?
The strongest route is the CCMS portal at ccms.pitc.com.pk, which gives you a tracking number; you can also call 118 or the toll-free number 0800-63726. Always keep the complaint number so you can follow the case until it is closed. Full steps: register a complaint.
I paid my bill but the new bill still shows arrears — why?
This usually happens when the payment was made after the new bill was printed, was credited late, or went against a wrong number. Match the transaction ID on your receipt against the bill, and if the arrears repeat next month, take the receipt to your sub-division office. See bill paid or not for the checks.
What should I do if my meter runs fast or stops?
Do not open or adjust the meter yourself. Register a metering complaint through CCMS or your sub-division office and ask for the meter to be tested or replaced; billing for the disputed period can be reviewed once the fault is confirmed. The complaint guide covers the channels.
Connections, solar & other services
What are peak hours, and do they affect my bill?
Peak hours are the high-demand evening hours when electricity costs more for time-of-use consumers — generally those with a sanctioned load of 5 kW or more. Shifting heavy appliances to off-peak hours lowers the bill on such connections. Timings and rates: peak hours guide.
How does solar net metering work with MEPCO?
With net metering, your solar system exports surplus electricity to the grid through a bi-directional meter, and the exported units are credited against the units you import. You apply through MEPCO and need an approved meter before the arrangement shows on your bill. Process: solar net metering.
How do I change the name on my MEPCO connection?
Name change (transfer of connection) is done through your sub-division office with proof of ownership or tenancy, your CNIC and the latest paid bill. The new name appears on bills once the transfer is approved and recorded. Documents and steps: change of name.
How do I apply for a new MEPCO connection?
You apply at your sub-division office or through MEPCO's online application route with your CNIC, proof of ownership and neighbouring bill details. After survey and a demand notice, the meter is installed once the notice is paid. Full guide: new connection.
How can I find the load-shedding schedule for my area?
Load-shedding follows your feeder, so timings differ street by street and change with demand. Check the schedule for your feeder through MEPCO's official channels or the SMART app, and expect updates during extreme weather. See load-shedding schedule.
What can the MEPCO SMART app do?
The official MEPCO SMART app by PITC lets you view and download bills, see payment history, register complaints and receive alerts on your phone. It uses the same account details as your bill, so keep your reference number handy when you sign up. Details: MEPCO SMART app.
