Cookie Policy
This page lists every cookie and browser-storage item connected with this website — what it is, why it exists, and how you can remove it. Short version: this site itself stores almost nothing, and what it does store never leaves your device.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to save so it can remember things between visits — a login, a setting, or which pages you saw. A close relative, local storage, does the same job inside your browser and is what this site itself uses. Neither cookies nor local storage can read anything else on your phone or computer, and both can be deleted by you at any time.
What this site itself stores
This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. It uses your browser's local storage for exactly two optional conveniences:
| Item | Type | Purpose | Stored when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saved bill number | Local storage | Pre-fills the checker next month with the reference number or consumer ID you asked it to remember. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. | Only if you tick “Save my number on this device” |
| Cookie consent choice | Local storage | Remembers that you pressed Accept on the cookie notice, so the notice is not shown again. | When you accept the cookie notice |
Nothing else is saved. The bill calculator, for example, does all its maths on your screen and stores nothing at all. Our privacy policy explains the wider picture, including why bill numbers never reach our servers.
Advertising cookies — Google AdSense
This site is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. When ads run on this site, cookies enter the picture in a way they otherwise would not:
- Google and third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites on the internet.
- Google's advertising cookies enable it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites.
- These cookies are set and read by Google and its partners, not by this website, and they do not contain your name, bill number or anything you type into the checker.
Your choice: you can opt out of personalised advertising at any time in Google Ads Settings. Ads may still appear afterwards, but they will no longer be based on your browsing. Opting out does not affect the checker, the calculator or any guide on this site.
How to disable or delete cookies
Every browser lets you block cookies and clear stored site data. The exact menu names vary slightly by version, but the route is similar everywhere:
- Chrome (Android & computer): Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies — block third-party cookies, or use “Clear browsing data” / site settings for this site to delete everything it has stored, including the saved bill number.
- Safari (iPhone / iPad): Settings → Safari → Block All Cookies to block cookies, or “Clear History and Website Data” to remove stored data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection / Cookies and Site Data — block cookies or clear this site's data.
- Just the saved bill number: untick “Save my number on this device” in the checker and submit once — the number is removed from your browser immediately.
Blocking cookies or clearing storage will not break anything here: the checker and calculator work exactly the same, you will simply see the cookie notice again and any saved number will be gone.
Changes to this policy
If what this site stores ever changes — a new feature, a new advertising partner — this page will be updated to say so before or as the change takes effect, and the cookie notice will be shown again so you can make a fresh choice. Questions about cookies or privacy are welcome via the contact page.
